In Hampton Roads we are getting slammed with some rain and high winds. Anyone seeing any new birds? The residents are getting smart (smarter than me:)

Any new birds in front of the bad weather we are getting now? Empty Snows near Chincoteague

Post  Russell Vrhovac Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:10 am

Last Saturday I did see lots of snows heading towards Chincoteague and a WHOLE LOTTA mergansers and buffies hanging in the marshes. Couple of teal and blacks scooting around the marsh but they smart birds.

My brother lives in Richmond, he's on here too, Jason Andrews.

As far as birds, we have birds up here that should be moving your way soon. Keep us posted.

Any new birds in front of the bad weather we are getting now? Empty Lower James River Duck Report

Post  Russell Vrhovac Sun Jan 15, 2012 6:33 pm

No birds on the Southern James River yesterday. Ghost town. Only saw a handful of buffies and a scoter or two. Same thing as last year, the Southern James shutdown after the New Year. At least for me that is. I may have seen a flock of bluebills in my binoculars but they were far off and couldn't be sure. Probably cormorants, all I saw was a large black raft of birds with no white mixed in. I think that all the dabblers are in Back Bay with reliable food.
