Duck boat help : To paint or not Carolinaskiff

Hey everyone, I got this boat a few months back with the intentions to use this duck hunting/fishing/crabbing. 12' Carolina Skiff with a 15 HP Mercury. I've been reading a lot on the need to camo out the boat & motor. If this was only to be used as a hunting boat I would have no problem painting it. But it will also be used for fishing and crabbing quite often in the spring/summer. Should I be painting this boat & engine? I don't think I will be hunting right off the boat. It will be more of transportation to and from hunting spots. But then I would still have the problem of hiding the boat somehow with a cover at the hunting spot. Does anyone have any recommendations as to whether I should paint the boat, cover the boat, or leave it bare. A few people have told me that the ducks are used to seeing boats on the water and do not affect the hunt very much. Please help lol.

I would paint the boat and use a burlap cover for the motor. If you really don't wanna paint the boat then I have seen people get a bunch of burlap the 12ftX50in stuff and zip tie together and use that as a cover. I wouldn't just leave it white while out hunting duck will flare off it.

As Chris says the white will send them running. Check out some of the waterfowl gear websites and get some military style camo. You can zip tie it together and hide you boat with it. But you should have some kind of backing on it so the white wont bleed thur. Your boat the way she is would be easy to build a simple pop up type blind. Good luck on your choice.

You don't need to do anything crazy by no means, get some parker hunter green or if you'd prefer the more expensive pettit dull dead grass, whatever you want. Slap some paint on the boat if your going to use it for hunting, fishing, crabbing whatever the boats going to get dirty so look at it this way a dark color won't show as much muck. If you have decoy bags after your done splashing the decoys bungy the decoy bag to the cowl of the motor or get a burlap bag. Tuck the boat away and enjoy the hunt, like i said no need to go crazy with it unless you intend to hunt from it.
