August Workbench Empty August Workbench

Post  Davey Welsh Wed Aug 01, 2012 3:07 pm

Too hot to carve outside in my shed, so I've been painting. Just finished these 3 drakes for my rig. Working on the 3 hens to go with them and some black ducks and a gadwall too.

Delaware River, hollow cedar and oils.

August Workbench Empty looking really good davey

Those mallards look sweet davey. I can only hope we have some colder weather this year to keep the birds moving. We're due for a really good season.

Alright Chris, don't beat them ducks up too bad in NJ on their way to VA. We don't need any more smarter ducks than they already are. If you do shoot...leave no survivors!

Awesome mallards! You guys keep giving me the itch to try my hand at decoy carving, but I don't know where to start. scratch Would love to hunt out of a boat I built, over decoys I made.

Good place to start would be at The Duck Blind run by Willy McDonald. They have everything for the beginner. Kits, dvds, videos on the web site. I'm not sure if he's a member here or not, seems to be everywhere Very Happy
But a good place to find him and more info on carving is workingdecoys.net
Best of luck!
