choke tubes brand and size
Mid season last year I switched from my old faithful remington 870 (shot that gun since I was 15) to a mossberg 930 waterfowl also a good gun. It came with a lot of stock options like max4 camo ported barrel and 3 choke tubes. IC, MOD, and full. I used the MOD choke in the new gun to finish out the season. Last week I went to pattern the gun I used a few different shells and tried both the IC and MOD at 30yrds. I got the best results with the IC choke and remington shells. It wasn't a great pattern but it will do the job all day if I do my part. Since my best pattern wasn't the greatest ( I think it could be better). I did some reading online about different choke tubes. I read that mossberg factory chokes don't pattern real well and most guys use after market chokes. I wonder if any of you guys use name brand choke tubes and if so what size, ported or unported, extended or flush. At the moment I am leaning towards the carlson extented nonported light modified(between IC & MOD). Any input would be great thanks.

Pattern master bro! Either the extended range (which I use all the time) or the over the decoy choke. Absolute best results than with any other choke tube. I shoot Winchester Xpert steel shot. Early season I use #6's for teal and woodies, switch to #4's for big ducks. Some would say that the extended range choke is too tight for over the decoys, but I prefer a tight pattern because I have a very LOW percentage of cripples. My birds don't get destroyed unless they're coming straight in and I pummel their body, but this rarely happens. I always go for the head shots and I've lost very few table birds because of the choke tube.
Not to mention the extended range is very versatile because say you get 4-5 birds drop in. You pop up and drop one bird, by now the birds are getting out of there in a hurry. I've been able to triple because the pattern is so tight, I can dump a bird or two over the decoys and pick off a third while he escapes.

Re: choke tubes brand and size
I have tried several choke tubes in my Remingtons over the years and finally found the answer about 3-4 seasons ago. Kick's Choke Tubes.
I have every size for the High Flyer tubes and have tested them against several other tubes including the stock Remington tubes and these were by far the most consistent. They really can take a beating as well. You wont be disappointed.
I shoot Kent Fasteel, Tungsten Matrix and Heavy Shot out of them because those loads pattern the best and are super reliable. Winchester, Remington Hypersonic pattern like crap IMO. Federal patterns OK.
Winchester patterned very consistent but shot low and left. Remington HS loads were never consistent enough to trust shooting them in the field. Federal (non BC) patterned OK but not as good as the Kents and HS. I do have Kick's Black Cloud tubes for the BC loads and they pattern nice but i really never shoot BC.
Hope this helps.

Chris, that is unusal that the factory tubes aren't what you want. Usaually the mossy tubes throw pretty good patterns. Mine for an older 9200 and my 935 throw some good patterns. Hope you get it worked out before legal shooting time
