Had another great shoot yesterday in a different spot. This time we were after the teal. 10 Greenwings, 2 woodies and 2 mallards. I can't remember shooting this many birds in 2 days the first week of the North Zone. If this is any indicator of what this year will be like, it is going to be awesome. Next week it'll be the south zone spots and hopefully some blue wings!

Dinner last night. Fresh roasted teal and mallard with a port wine sauce, honey roasted almonds, some spinach and smashed sweet potatoes. It was absolutely delicious.

Great shoot, you're off to a great start for sure!

Dinner looks mighty fine as well.

Awesome job! Love them green wings!

I have been out a couple times this season so far and have seen way more movement with woodies and big ducks than I have in the past couple seasons in the first week. Like you said, I really hope that is an indication of what is to come the rest of the season!

Lumped them up again Empty Opening day 2012 Woodies

First day of duck season 2012. The best part was the dog-work! Glad we had Sam with us as woodies notoriously fall in heavy cover. (I do not have a picture of the gumbo that resulted from the hunt. Sorry)
