100 point system
If any of you remember that point system, I think we shoiuld go back to it. This morning hunted with some folks and one guy shoots a duck. He swore up and down that he had shot a cinnimom teal. I told him to get the water out of his eyes. He didnt believe me when I told him it was a hen common goldeye. It took several hours until we got to the ramp and I dragged a waterfowl of usa book out of the truck.
We need to make sure hunters can id ducks better. Back during the point system days you learned your ducks or it was a short day or trouble at the ramps we used where the GWs waited. This also made me think of another post here about overshooting in areas. Just makes me mad that another hunter shot also and had no idear of what was in front of him.

Rick I do remember the point system, imo it was the dumbest rule ever it didnt matter what you shot but the order u shot them in. Shoot 9 broadbills then a black duck and you were done, shoot one black duck and you were done, kinda ridculous IMO. still wouldn't matter today as no one enforces the rules we have today.

Cpt I have to agree with you on how stupid it was. But it did make folks learn to id ducks. I guess thats what I was getting to.
