Nasty day!!
Mother nature is just not cooperating for this last full week of duck hunting. 30-40mph winds today. First time I've had the Estuary in 3-5' waves..and this in the ICW on the bay. She handled it just fine but we turned around anyway because navigating that in the dark is dangerous and the sea spray literally dumped a gallon of water in my boat. I bought this new jacket this year, a Neoprene fowler jacket. If I didn't have that on today, I would have been back at the ramp drenched from head to toe.
We shot two blacks and a broadbill. Some season, but we'll try again tomorrow.

Re: Nasty day!!
One of those days you're glad you're hunting out of an Estuary!

Re: Nasty day!!
Now that sounds a bit choppy mate, our weather over here in the UK is a bit up and down as well, one day it is frosty the next day it is raining
and then the temps rise for a day or so, then they go back down again its wierd

Nast Day
Hunted this afternoon behind little beach. Going across the inlet, the wind pushing against the tide made it interesting. We only killed 2 Blacks
Lots of birds just not moving in this wind.

Re: Nasty day!!
Monday afternoon was similar..20mph gusting to 30...3'-4' swells.....although the AA Broadbill does not have the same reputation for being as sea worthy as the estuary....It handled the ride nicely and I was VERY happy!

You mean very wet? Lol....
Good Call
Davey,
Looks like you made a good call on turning around and calling it a day. I have cancelled two hunts this year due to weather reports from NOAA only to find out that the forcast was wrong. Better safe than sorry.

Better than sitting here in the cubicle at work!!! I am going to attemt my first seaduck hunt this saturday if all goes as planned and my buddy is willing to take out his 16' jon boat...good job and way to go strong!!!
Cubibles and duck hunting
Cubicles suck but do have a nice windo to the inside of the building with minimal sunlight. I feel like a groundhog in the spring everytime I go outside . I think that is why I hunt so hard.
