Lets see your duck boat
Lets see some pictures of duck boats.
Here is mine - Dave Clark Estuary. I run a CMC power tilt/trim unit, a 2011 Mercury 15 4-stroke with electric start. The boat has running lights, interior lights and power. Its awesome, I love this boat.

Craig I run the rig as you, a Fricke with Yahmmie on the back, 15 hp. How do you like the cackler? I been thinking of a 2 man rig, like a Garvey, or a even a Duck Wrangler. Do you sit on the floor, hunting out of the Cackler? or are u up on a seat? I would like something fiberglass for a 2 man.

Charlie I love it so far. I found it last January on craigslist in cape cod, the previous owners used it for sea duck hunting.
I sit on a milk crate and it puts my head just above the top of the canvas. Plenty of room for two guys and a dog. It has a rear bench seat that my lab sits on and can mark birds easily from that height, but stay hidden. The modification that Dave did to this boat, as he previously owned it, was to remove the motor well and set it up with a conventional transom.
I have bungees on the canvas to put grass on it in addition to the grass loops and it does hide pretty well on the coast, but I've primarily used it in the north zone. It really isn't that high of a boat to hide with the canvas off, but I haven't hunted out of it that way.
Pictures with the canvas off, I had a cooler up front for plugging bass this spring.

That Devlin is pretty nice Craig. Perfect for diver hunting! Someday, when I get out of this townhouse, I'd like to build a Garvey.
My sneakbox
Here is my BBSB that I rebuilt over the summer. Great little box hides real well.

Re: Lets see your duck boat
I like that 2 man boat John. Love to see more pics of it, especially looking inside.
Re: Lets see your duck boat
View of the cockpit.
The canvas dodger is forward of the cockpit coaming so it allows for plenty of dry storage like a large dash board. I also use this area for my Lab to sit where she is behind us can get a good view to mark birds. There are two folding back rest that are in the down position and in the second photo are folded up for layout style gunning. Plenty of storage under the forward deck for fuel and a milk create full of supplies like stove, heater, frying pan and guns. Under the aft deck is my safety equipment and more decoys, oars and push pole.

Re: Lets see your duck boat
That's a good looking fleet Capt. John.
I still have friends who hunt out of their southbays, I grew up hunting out of one for many years. Once they are grassed up they hide like nobody's business.
A shot from the 'good old days' for me, back when my backyard used to be good...

Not sure why my photos are cut off on the right side. When I posted them and looked at the preview last night all looked good

Re: Lets see your duck boat
This is my Higbee I got last year. Put a 8hp 4stroke yamaha on it this fall. I still need to get some pics of it in the water w/ the dodger up. maybe I'll remember to do that this weekend.

You should have seen me in my lil 10ft devlin w/15hp 2 stroke....34mph! " SPEED KILLS!"
The AA Broadbill gets up to 21mph w/ me, the dog(90lb knuckle head) , some decoys(2-3doz) & layout blind....Empty(just me) it can do 26mph
Very rarely do I run full tilt...unless Im heading back to port, running in full daylight and KNOW the area

My little boat used to fly with me in it...37mph.
You should see my Estuary now. You saw it run that day with the hydrofoil and factory prop, well I put a Stainless steel prop in the next size lower pitch...the Estuary runs 15mph now steady, and I had her up to 17mph running with the tide and wind. Getting good performance now.
Re: Lets see your duck boat
I just up graded from a 80's 9.8 merc to a 96 evinrude 15hp 2 stroke. With the 9.8 I was getting about 11mph with a full load. Now with the 15hp I am getting 19-20mph with a full load. I was surprised I was getting that much speed from my displacement hull. It doesn't sweep up much in the stern like some displacement hulls so i guess its kinda a semi displacement and I don't push much of a bow wake at all. The way Bill Simonsen sets his motor board on a 15 degree angle makes a big difference it keeps the bow down really well. I set the pin higher to see the difference as if the motor board wasn't on an angle and the bow was riding sky high. hugh difference with the motor board on an angle. Either way at 0 dark 30 I am not going that fast but its fun on the run back in when its daylight. I was going with the wind and tide the other day and I was getting 23mph on the gps.

Re: Lets see your duck boat
I had never clocked my Fricke before, I was running out yesterday afternoon and using my iphone speedometer, clocked in at 21 mph at my usual cruising speed, faster than I thought I was going.

This is my BBSB. in Chesapeake, VA. It was home built by an old duck hunter 31 years ago and I rebuilt it.
I bent the blind frame and sewing myself with a needle and hemp. It took me a year to restore it to its former glory but in the end it is a sneaky little craft. The envy of all my buddies (that don't have a BBSB). Haha!
