Has anyone out there made a tiller extension for their outboard? I have bought two from BPS and they just aren't stout enough. Flimsy plastic connection from metal extension to tiller just flex's too much for reliability. I was thinking about building one for my mariner 15 for fishing season coming up.

Thanks,

Russell

I use 1 1/2" pvc, cut it to preferred length and then turn it 90 deg on a mitre saw and make slits on each side so it can expand when you slide it on. Tap it on to the tiller and strap it down with 2 hose clamps and paint. It is plenty rigid and have not had it come off.

Dan great pic of the extension. I am sad to see that saftey kill switch is not hooked to you. I had a little scare this season so I make it a point to wear it at all times

You're right Chris - sometimes I just forget to put it on, but those are the times something bad happens.
