George wanted to know what color or colors you use for a mallard for the greenhead portion? using Golden matte acrylics myself thought I get some good suggestions on a place to start, my daughter wants me to make her a greenhead for her birthday she's gonna be 7
Re: ? George W
That's great that you're going to make a decoy for your daughter. George sent me his paint schedule for mallards using Golden matte acrylics. He uses pthalo green yellow shade for the head. You need to base coat the head either white or neutral gray. Mix the pthalo green with an opaque color, usually titanium white or Cad yellow. Stipple cad yellow for highlights, ultramarine blue with mars black for shades.

Re: ? George W
hey, if you do not find info on upper and lower tail coverts on the frake-just use either mars black or carbon black, if using Golden MATTE. I may have omitted that information on the schedule!
Glad to have been of some assistance--Make sure you have a body on the bench when painting--MUCH BETTER than all of the great photos you can possibly amass!!

Hey, your sensei and i had a pretty interesting day today in the dungeon, swapping tricks of the trade, so it were!!
Paul is an extremely methodical carver, and you can count yourself blessed to be getting assistance from him. If you need speed stuff, come on down--watching the two of us was kind of like watching the odd couple!!
Ask him how he liked working with stone age equipment!! hehehhehehhe
AGAIN---drop me another e mail asap--i have revised the mallard paint scheme, and now have it as a word document, since Ed Lewandowski got me through the process over the phone this afternoon! Thanks, again Ed. Paul, thanks for lunch--finally got the dust cleared out so i can base the seven cans, and grind a few more.
