SEASON'S COMING Empty SEASON'S COMING

Post  Rick Godsey Sun Aug 18, 2013 4:13 pm

Hey guys the new season will soon be here. I talked about it last year start thinking safety. I went over my stuff and decided to get 2 new pfd's this year. The others weren't torn or with holes just old looking. We read several serval stories each year from coast to coast about hunting accidents not enough safety equipment on hand. I also went thur my first aid kit and replaced outdated stuff in there. Hunt safe.

I guess it's that time to start dusting everything off and taking inventory.

That will be this weekend's project.

SEASON'S COMING Empty Getting out to the Range

Post  Russell Vrhovac Wed Aug 28, 2013 8:29 am

The dove season opener is next Monday and thats a good way to "warm-up" for the season. I finally got out to the range to test out my new Beretta Outlander A300. My hunting buddy brought out his new Benelli SBE II and we both shot like crap. We both shot both guns and I definately perfer the Beretta. The Outlander shoots like my AL2 that I inherited from my grandfather It just feels smoother (not to offend you Benelli types). The SBE is nice and light and throws up easily but I think it is the action that throws me a little. It feels a little more "mechanical" than some others but not as mechanical as my 870:D . I did bring out my 870 with a 22" barrell and Super Full choke and did a hell of a lot better with that than I did with my Beretta (had that old gun for almost 20 years and its still my go-to). Go figure. I guess price doesn't make you shoot better. Hope everyone out there is doing well. As far as the safety part of my message- don't for get to take your finger out of the receiver before pushing the button on the side of the receiver. I was bleeding all over my buds brand new Benelli, hahahahaa!

anyone starting to see either of the eastern teal species yet? We have woodies on the marsh--at least saw a small group when we were doing repairs.

Not seeing much in teal yet. But the trips to the river is showing good promise for mallards, woodies and black ducks in this area. Hope those little buzz bombs show up, they sure do make some folks eat their words over how they shoot.
